asの用法

「as」は確かに前置詞・接続詞•副詞で非常に多義的な単語です。  

1. 前置詞としての「as」  

（後ろに名詞句が来る。「〜として」「〜の立場で」「〜だとみなして」などの意味）

1. She works as a nurse in Tokyo.  

   → 彼女は東京で看護師として働いている。

2. He was hired as our new team leader.  

   → 彼は新しいチームリーダーとして採用された。

3. I regard him as my best friend.  

   → 私は彼を親友だと思っている。

4. They treated me as a child.  

   → 彼らは私を子供扱いした。

5. This phone can be used as a flashlight.  

   → このスマホは懐中電灯として使える。

6. She dressed as a cat for Halloween.  

   → 彼女はハロウィンで猫の格好をした。

7. We see the problem as an opportunity.  

   → 私たちはその問題をチャンスだと見ている。

8. He is known as the father of modern physics.  

   → 彼は現代物理学の父として知られている。

9. The letter came as a surprise.  

   → その手紙は驚きだった。

10. Use this box as a temporary table.  

    → この箱を仮のテーブルとして使って。

2. 接続詞としての「as」 — 理由（〜なので）

11. As it was raining, we stayed indoors.  

    → 雨が降っていたので、私たちは室内にいた。

12. As he was very tired, he went to bed early.  

    → とても疲れていたので、彼は早く寝た。

13. As she had no money, she couldn’t buy it.  

    → お金がなかったので、彼女はそれを買えなかった。

14. As I was hungry, I ate quickly.  

    → お腹がすいていたので、急いで食べた。
